As you are aware, when you book a prepaid shipment through eBay Global Shipping (EGS) platform, you are shown a tentative duty amount at the time of booking. This amount is only an estimate and is subject to change following customs clearance at the destination.
You booked certain prepaid shipments through FedEx during the period September 2025 to June 2026 and paid the tentative duty amount applicable at the time of booking.
The tentative duty amount has been refunded to your sellers account during the period September 2025 to August 2026.
FedEx has now provided the final duty assessment for these shipments following customs clearance.
The amount payable comprises:
(a) the original tentative duty amount; and
(b) any additional duty or other charges arising from the final customs assessment.
Additional duty charges may arise for reasons including, but not limited to:
1. The estimated duty was calculated based on the declared Country of Origin being USA.
2. An incorrect HSN code was provided.
3. The declared FOB value is lower than the shipping cost.
4. Any adjustments made by customs authorities or the carrier during customs clearance.
eBay will recover the duty charge from your eBay seller account within the next 2-6 working days. We kindly request that you ensure your eBay seller account has sufficient funds to facilitate the recovery. This recovery is made in accordance with the EGS Terms and Conditions applicable to your shipment.
If you have any question regarding these duty charges, you may raise a “Shipment Invoice dispute” through the Resolution Centre within 15 days of receiving the duty statement.
